Rio Real Golf Club
Rio Real Golf Course was designed by the foremost Spanish golf architect Javier Arana and opened in 1965.
Spreading over a beautiful valley, the course is set in splendid surroundings on gently undulating terrain, softly sloping toward the Mediterranean.
Backed by the Sierra Bermeja which culminates at 1500 metres it forms a natural shelter and creates a subtropical climate even during the winter months which are extremely mild. The Real River crosses the course several times.
Although it is mainly flat, the course is not easy with plenty of natural hazards such as ravines making distance often difficult to judge. In the past year the club has benefited from several major improvements, namely replanted fairways, new greens, enlargement of cart paths and refurbishment of the clubhouse and its facilities.
Rio Real is one of the top 3 courses in Costa del Sol and in 2002 was considered the most improved course of the year.
